Penn State University includes a variety of shared-service core research facilities that provide specialized instrumentation and analytical services for the conduct of basic, clinical, and translational research.
Most of the research facilities are available to both Penn State University users as well as outside academic and industry users. Fees for service are recalculated each year in order to cover maintenance, consumables, and salary costs. These are available from within our core facility management software or upon request.
Our main centralized system, CORES iLab, includes a list of our research cores. The landing page is designed to assist researchers in navigating the facilities, resources, and services available at Penn State. Currently, the iLab system includes facilities from the College of Medicine, Chemistry, Huck Institutes of the Life Sciences, Institute for CyberScience, Health and Human Development, and the Social Science Research Institute. Not all cores are currently providing access to their equipment and services through iLab, but will be included in the list of cores on our main iLab page.
Core facilities are being added to iLab in phases and the list will be continually updated to provide direct access to those cores.
