What is iLab?
iLab is a web application being adopted by Penn State shared scientific facilities to manage the process of requesting the use of instruments, equipment, supplies, and technology as well as the process of requesting services or technical expertise. The system serves as a central marketplace for Penn State’s cores, including a streamlined billing system integrated with Penn State’s financial system. More…
Why use iLab?
iLab provides a centralized interface for you to request time on equipment, request services, and view billing information for your research in one or more cores that you may use. A consistent process and interface will help you to have one place to go for research needs when using cores at Penn State.
As research cores implement iLab as their facility management solution, you will need to register for an account and submit requests for equipment time or services through the iLab system. Each request will need to have a valid payment option selected prior to utilizing instrumentation or receiving services. Payment funds can be assigned to you and usage approved by your PI.
Which cores are using iLab?
The adoption of iLab across Penn State is currently in progress. To view a list of cores currently implemented and live within iLab, please see the PSU Core Facilities tab on the Penn State iLab Page. There may be instances where a core’s particular workflow will need to remain outside of iLab or they have not yet been implemented in iLab. These cores will be listed in the non-iLab Cores at Penn State University section on the PSU Core Facilities tab on the Penn State iLab Page.
